We will be going to Serendipity Horse Meadows Farm for two nights, November 20-22. The arrival time at the campsite on Friday the 20th is anytime after 4pm; pick-up time on Sunday is 10am. The address of the farm is:
Serendipity Horse Meadows
17907 Spielman Rd.
Fairplay, MD 21733
Our troop has established COVID-specific policies that are somewhat different from the way we usually camp.
Transportation: Families are responsible for transporting their Scout(s) to and from the campsite.
Sleeping accommodations: Everyone will sleep in individual tents.
Shared equipment: Shared equipment will be sanitized between uses, whenever possible.
Sanitary facilities: There is a port-a-potty available, which is regularly cleaned/sanitized.
Hand-washing: A hand washing station and hand sanitizer will be available. Everyone will be expected to make frequent use of these amenities, including before and after touching any shared surfaces.
Social distancing: Everyone will stay at least 6' away from other people, including people they live with, whenever possible.
Masks: Everyone will carry a mask with them at all times, and will wear it whenever it is not possible to maintain 6' of distance from other people.
Food: We will be individually preparing dehydrated backpacking-style meals. Scouts will bring their own dinner on Friday (due to varying arrival times) and lunch on Saturday.
Water: Everyone should bring enough water for their own personal use. The only shared water will be that used to individually prepare dehydrated food, which will be boiled before use and distributed by one person using a ladle.
Everyone is expected to follow the troop's Draft COVID-19 Guidelines.
A completed Registration Form
Personal Gear (Packing List) - Please pay special attention to the packing list! We won't be able to share gear that someone forgets to bring. If you don't have it, please ask to borrow it!
Annual Health and Medical Record - Parts A and B are required (if not already on file)
Payment of $65, see email for details about payment
We believe there is also a separate liability waiver at the farm; parents should be prepared to sign it on arrival.
NO FOOD WILL BE SHARED. Please do not bring snacks to share with others.
Because of varying arrival times, Scouts will bring their own dinner Friday (or eat it ahead of time). Campfire snacks will be provided.
Scouts will bring their own lunch for Saturday. This should be something that does not require cooking, like a sandwich. There will be a cooler available to store your lunch for Saturday.
We will not be doing joint dishwashing. Saturday and Sunday breakfast and Saturday dinner will be prepared individually (backpacking style) in Ziplock freezer bags, which will be discarded at the end of the meal.
Scouts who are responsible for providing meals may find the information on backpacking meals in our Resources section helpful.
